A bit more about the frequencies (from http://tantalus.com/technology.htm):

"The 220 MHz frequency is a licensed spectrum used by many utilities for
SCADA applications; the 900 MHz frequency is an unlicensed spread spectrum
shared by industrial and scientific applications."
