I can get an Icom IC-746 Pro for $1300 including power supply and microphone. It looks like it has the same features as the Jupiter plus I get 6M and 2M. A Jupiter will cost me almost $1700 if I get

The only thing Ten Tec buys you when comparing the 2 radios is service. I can get an Icom IC-746 Pro for $1300 including power supply and microphone. It looks like it has the same features as the Jup

Sorry John, we can't leave that one go.... Try running high-speed break-in CW with the IC-746 and compare it to the Jupiter. You'll throw rocks at the 746! Try to attach a linear to the 746 and then

I don'tknow aobut the jupiter but the receiver in my omni6+ has a way better s/n radio because of a superior dsp than the 746 does. I can hear weak signals far better on the onmi6+ and the noise leve
The Omni VI+ is my vote also. Mark, W9OP Bob, in fact that is another option to choose from ... Get a used Omni6+ from TenTec! Carsten --Ursprüngliche Nachricht-- Von: Jim Miller WB5OXQ [mailto:

I don't think the Jupiter has internal thermal issues as it appears the 746 does. Check out the eHam reviews here: http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/1951 And in the remote chance that there is a pro

Dennis and others, I appologize - my grey cells mixed things up (once again). [To my knowledge] There is not yet a 746 PRO II on the market. I confused it up with the 756. Sorry if I caused a few hea
The only time I have had a chance to give my Jupiter a wring out in a rig shootout it was. Conditions were very noisy, with thunderstorms all around, solar noise was high, but the Jupiter was still p

Hi Carsten, Correction: You do not need to add filters to an IC-746Pro. You cannot, in fact - like the Jupiter, it is a DSP-based radio. The 746Pro covers HF, 6m and 2m. The IC-746Pro is also fitted
Well, the built-in tuner from Icom is nowhere near as capable as the LDG-supplied autotuner in the Jupiter. The Icom's tuner (I believe) only matches a 3:1 or better SWR, while the LDG will do 10:1.
