Hey Group, Well, finally got around to completing the project I bought a year ago...the amp had blown diodes. I replaced all the diodes, put in a circuit board for the new caps, upgraded the 811A'
Id check to see if it even has 10M enabled and FL-1 removed or bypassed. Carl KM1H Hey Group, Well, finally got around to completing the project I bought a year ago...the amp had blown diodes. I repl
Thanks guys, will let you know in a day or 2, I thought perhaps it may have the trap or simply jumpered...but I bought this from a ham, who seemed pretty knowledgable about amps, and was going to rep
Well, it wasn't a trap or a jumper, seems that the TUNE control on this amp is WAY sensitive..move it a bit and the SWR went to Zero..anyone have this experience? Is this characteristic of this amp
All the 2-4 tube 811A/572B amps are touchy on 10M due to the high value of the Tune caps. Dentron warns to not go below 5 on the Load cap. Id start there and in the CW position and tune for maximum s
"Id start there and in the CW position and tune for maximum smoke." Careful, Carl, there are a lot of hams out there who take every word as gospel and will try to do that. 73, Colin _________________
Thanks Carl, well, only driving it with about 75 watts, wont go over that with my 746PRO to keep it happy...and not trying to sqeeze every last watt out either, like some folks.. ;) When I rebuilt
I keep forgetting Colin..... In USN ET School in 1960 an old Chief instructor mentioned that as an acceptable trouble shooting procedure when all else failed...damn if he wasnt right! Carl KM1H -- Or
2100 is about right in standby on CW while 2600-2700 is fine on SSB. I hope its just out of tolerance metering resistors and not the filter caps loading it down with high leakage. Carl KM1H Thanks Ca
Well, the 160-10L doesnt have a high/low voltage position...has SSB/CW which only changes the speed of the fan...voltage remains the same..thats the design..in the Clipperton L - newer redesign of th

Clarification.... My Clipperton-L only has a tap on the High Voltage secondary winding for SSB/CW. (Lo/Hi voltage) There are no primary taps, only two primary windings for 115v (Parallel) & 230V (Ser

Glad you clarified that. Ive seen late 160-10L's with the Clip L transformer (without the filament CT) and Ive seen late Clip L's with the Clip QRO transformer with the CT and SS zener control as wel
