A certain VE2 sent me Zone 2 (clearly, and also to the guy after me), but the cty file gave Zone 5. Of course, I logged "2" (and added a note that he really sent 2). Both Zones were mults (I was just
Hi Art, Well, there's two possibilities. (1) He really was in Zone 2 and therefore no problem. (2) He thought he was in Zone 2 but was really in Zone 5. In the case of (2) I don't know what happens.

I'm pretty sure there was a VE2 in zone 2. I guess it all depends on if he sends in a log as to whether or not they believe those who may have worked him. Just like spots on the cluster, these files

The CTY.DAT file that you use during the contest will likely not be the one that the adjudicators use a month from now. They will be using one that has been updated to reflect unexpected changes that
It's a no-brainer. If he sent "2" then your log should show "2" and the scoring machine should be obliged to accept "2" (including the mult). 73, de Hans, K0HB/4ID -- the cty file gave Zone 5. Of cou

I would think it's up to the Zone 2 operator to show his Zone when he submits his Cabrillo log. I further assume the adjudicator's software uses the submitted VE2's Cabrillo Zone number and not any C

That doesn't sound right at all. In the past, I've worked a lot of people in the IARU contest that thought they were in zone 3, 4, or 5 even when their call sign indicates that is not possible. I can
It can, and does, take the mult away! Here's how it works, according to K1TTT on 23 October 2005 - with regard to stations in Zone 16 sending 17 in their exchange. It's clear, therefore, that it does
That's ludicrous! What's the point of the exchange? [shrug] I love Sweepstakes! A contest for Radiomen, nor Computermen. 73, de Hans, K0HB/4ID -- _______________________________________________ CQ-C

I have to agree with Paul and Barry on this one. If the contest adjudicator can arbitrarily change the contest data from what was recorded to what he thinks it should be based upon a "best guess" th

Hi Ken, You bring up a good point but I would like to add to it. Yes, the zones are different in IARU so, if you receive a suspect zone from a W2 or VE2, then might it be easier, and more helpful to
Lessee, we have part of an exchange that means nothing, and more important than the real zone is something in a database somewhere. A great example of Foma !! -73 de Mike KB3EIA - ___________________
It's not like the contest log checkers arbitrarily decide what they THINK the zone should be. Firstly, if someone from VE2 Zone 5 actually went to the time and effort to set up an operation in Zone 2

I think it's obvious that we are all supposed to copy the zone that was sent, and to trust the scoring process to take that into account if it was wrongly sent to enough people to flag the system. Th
Just to finish this thread and make some clarification. K3KU probably talked about Stephane VE2SG, who usually lives in Quebec city (Zone 2), but arrived to Sept-Iles (Zone 2) just for the Contest. A
Wrong - you log the zone that should have been sent. Otherwise, you may not realise you still need the "wrong" zone - the one that was actually sent. The fact that the wrong zone, not the one copied,
