Orion owners, At my Orion 565AT I'am missing the ALC connector on rear panel. This is necessary for output power control based on ALC coming from external PA, such as Yaesu solid state Quadra PA. My

The ALC in the Orion is internal only. There is no external ALC on any tentec radio. You simply adjust the "PWR" level on the Orion for the correct drive level when in CW mode. Then in SSB, the drive

There is a valid point for not having ALC, ALC will cause distortion. At least that is my understanding of why the ALC was never put on TT Radios. Best wishes, Rich K5SF From: "Carl Moreschi" <n4py@a

Carl, Thank You are right. If using an tube PA, why not. But this is not sufficient for solid state PA. It will be hazardous to drive PA with full power when SWR or any other protection needs to redu

Gang I am sorry to hear that the Orion does not include an external ALC control feature. All theother radios I know have this feature, so I am surprised to say the least. Does this mean the Orion II

Hi Rich It does not mean its compatible, there are many people using them with Orions. The thing you have to do is find the appropriate driver wattage to key the Quadra at your desired power level an

I'm a little surprised the Quadra requires an external ALC voltage developed by the rig. Is there any other modern amp that requires this? I'm not aware of one. 73, Duane -- Duane Calvin, AC5AA Austi

Carl The yaesu Quadra develops the negative going ALC voltage, not the transceiver itself. None of Yaesu's sales stuff mentions that the transceiver needs to have an ALC input. Maybe this is not all

I own an Icom PW-1 and its definitely a problem (I think) in operation with my Orion. I seem to remember when I was researching this earlier in the year that the Quadra does have more input protectio

Boy, I sure love my alpha 87 a, just hook up the coax, run a RLY cable and go. the only thing I have to do is not overdrive it. it needs 50 watts max, but I leave it at 38-40 watts output and average
