The Orion supplies left and right audio out through the aux DIN connector on the back. They are "line level." Is the signal out independent of the setting of the volume control? Bob W2WG ____________
The signal out is set by a menu item. I don't have my Orion in front of me but check in the Menu -> RX and see if it is there. k4ia Craig "Buck" Fredericksburg, Virginia USA _________________________
Yes. The schematic of the audio output is designated 81917_6 in the A7 folder. It clearly indicates the AuxOut bypassing the Audio PA chip/volume control. 73, Barry N1EU _____________________________
Yes, True, but adjusting the audio seems to adjust the output... At least on mine... Best 73's Rich K5SF From: n1eu@netscape.net (Barry N1EU) Reply-To: tentec@contesting.com To: tentec@contesting.com
The answer is yes, sort of. The rules seem to be: if (Left Source [audio menu]> = Main) then { if(Main volume > 0) then Aux Out ["left"] = Main Rx else Aux Out = Zero } if (Left Source = Sub) then {
Page 28 of the manual states " Pin 4 is left side audio output. This output is line level...." insinuating the audio is a fixed level, however it is not. If you have the audio menu LEFT set to either
I have my audio from the Orion going into an Advent A4 stereo speaker and it sounds great. I have wondered if there would be a way to hook one of the A4 speakers to the left and one to the right and
Thanks to all for the info. I was hoping the individual receivers had fixed line out but I guess the "exotic" arrangement is workable. I was used to the independent fixed line-level outputs of the FT
Tommy, My rig does not behave that way. Left=Sub produces constant output unless you zero out the Sub AF volume. (v 1.372) In that case the aux. output is blanked out. Thinking about this a little mo
Martin I would like to see line out as you described your wishes. Bob W2WG Tommy, My rig does not behave that way. Left=Sub produces constant output unless you zero out the Sub AF volume. (v 1.372) I
Hi Martin, This is strange. Just checked mine again. Put the audio menu Left = Sub and can vary the left aux output by using the SubRx AF control. Put Left = MAIN or BOTH and vary the MAIN AF output
Tommy, I've always felt like a beta tester, even with the released firmware! You would have to be braver or bolder than I to be an actual beta tester. Or did they give you a price break? ;-) OK. I gu
I also would like a "Line Out" to behave like a "Line Out" should: fixed level. Of course it would be great if that fixed level were adjustable by software, but not affected by the volume controls. 7
Naw..there is no incentives one gets from doing beta testing. You just do it because you wanna try to help out. BTW, anyone with an Orion can ask to become a firmware beta tester...just apply through
Unfortunately, the same codec is used for front panel headphone output and rear panel aux outputs... 73, Sinisa YT1NT, VE3EA _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec
All the mess is created by attempting to feed 6 destinations (speaker, headphones, 3 aux outputs) from just 3 sources (3 DACs). Therefore, aux outputs cannot be independent from speaker/headphone out
Sort of. I have found that if you use headphones and mute the receive audio, the aux line level audio will go away completely. As soon as you restore the audio, the aux line level audio comes back an
I think that some hardware shortcuts were taken in the design and that the audio outputs aren't truly independent. _______________________________________________ TenTec mailing list TenTec@contestin
Mark, That is VERY strange. I just tested what you said and you are correct! Something I had not noticed before. If you are using AUX I/O Left aux audio output, plug in the headphones and mute the MA
