It would probably not function.
The force that caused the glass to break would be enough to send the plate to
mars. Even it it would take a while.

That's easy Hal. They would have been instructed to log onto
amps@contesting.com where they would enter discussions on microgravity, why
they are running tubes instead of solid state, and someone would ask this:
if they put the 3-500Z amp on a tether outside the space station into the
"vacuum" of space and the glass broke on the 3-500Z, would the 3-500Z still
keep operating.
In short, they would be so excited by the discussions, they would forget the
original question.
