Yes, except it's bulky and harder to tune, but theoretically should do
the job.

I would prefer a series L-C circuit using a very small bread-slicer
type variable cap, with the rotor grounded to the chassis and the coil
going from the stator directly to the cathode. Be sure the cap has
enough voltage rating. Keep the leads short.
