And the SB-1000 has a lighter duty transformer than even the AL-80A. Heath
sure didnt like heavy iron in the SB years.

Divide the SB-220 by two and add 160 = AL-80A/B, SB-1000.

The SB220 is considered by many to be a light to medium duty amplifier,
as the cooling fan and the voltage doubler power supply cannot support
operating those 3-500Z key down for significant time. I have one, but
haven't seem them for $500 in a number of years.
The Chippewa, unlike the later Warrior, was overbuilt from the start,
having a separate HV power supply box as big as the PA section. It also
had a real blower ducted through the two 4-400A chimneys. I have one of
these also.
I think the two Heathkits represent completely different design goals
from the company. SB220 was an incredible deal for its capability, no
doubt. If you just want RF power, and don't mind the limited duty factor,
its a nice unit.
