Another reason to work dupes (I hope) is the abundance of similiar call
these days. K9DX and myself (K9NX) were both very active during the
contest. Thats only one "dit" difference. Almost a dozen stations that I
worked in S&P mode said QSO B4, since I knew John was active I persisted
sending the "N" in my call very slowly this coupled with the fact that K9DX
and I are in different states (WI vs IL) granted me a QSO. I wonder how
many folks passed one or the other of us by when we were "running" because
they thought they had already worked us??? I had the same problem with my
previous call N7EX when working the same contest against K7EX. I know for
sure on one occassion that a DX station took K7EX's call out of the log and
put mine in...pity for both of em. With all these vanity calls around these
days it pays to really listen to the station you are working. I always
send the station's I'm working call in S&P mode so that He knows that I got
it right. Many stations who call me when I'm "running" do not do this and
run the risk of having Q's taken out of their log. So you guys who worked
K9DX in WI or K9NX in IL have a problem cuz its the other way around!
See you in the next pile up
