The point I am trying to make :

a/ some people out there - including K1TTT -
are extremely obsessed with spotting and slef appointed spot policing;
always ready to point finger to "cheaters" with or without evidence;

b/ large number of spots are useless or spam anyway;

c/ if you like to help your local team / club
keep your spots on local network. Otherwise it is contra productive
and will work against you;

d/ there is no evidence that more spots result in higher score;
and spoting other people will definitely lower your ranking;

e/ although spots may increase QSO rate for K4, they would very often
make things worse for rare DX - recent FB8 was perfect example;

f/ there is a number of US East Coast stations - small but faithful flock-
who no longer need receiver. Uninterrupted access to cluster is all they need;
and I honestly doubt in their ability to S+P or God forbid, call CQ.
Personally I find this viagra-style contesting boring - but hey - I am not here
to judge :-)

    And could you please explain this "half-spotting" : is there anyone,
    anywhere who is actually benefiting from YOUR spots:

  Yup, lots of times my rate gets a big bump when I am spotted and I am only a
lowly K4. it's fun to go back after the contest and check DXSummit to see
where the "bumps" took place as a result of the spots.
