Hans,
In your example, there's nothing ethically wrong.
There have been cases, however, where a competitive entrant in the Single Op
*Unassisted* category has found that he did not win, saw that there were no
significant entries in the assisted class, and changed his category to
Single Op *Assisted* in order to win that category instead.
While it's legal, is such a thing ethical? I think not.
He did not operate assisted, but there are no restrictions on claiming
assisted when you are not. Perhaps it's a subtle thing, but it calls into
question the entrants' ethics and motivations.

If your operation meets the requirements of the claimed category, why would
you NOT chose to enter the category most advantageous to you?
For example, if I find that I've had a really super weekend on 40 meters,
but lousy results on other bands, what is ethically wrong with submitting as
a single band entrant?

Hi Rich,
great about that, sorry I didn´t noticed it when you post it. But really
this is a big problem.

Hah. I proposed this a couple years ago. Got lots of derision for even
suggesting it.

I think will be very good if you declare the category you will choose for a
contest, BEFORE the contest start.
I don´t know if in a website of the Contest Organizer or somewhere else.
It´s very common stations that "change" the submitted category after reading
other scores in 3830 website.
There´s may thinks that are out of control, I don´t know if RDXC
improvements will detect stations QRP and LOW POWER that are using more than
the claimed power. Also stations using more than the legal limit power are
very common.
