The way I look at this, other than the WRTC2018 event itself, WRTC does not
assign points on its own. That is, they depend on other contest organizers,
such as WPX, to assign points and determine if participants have followed the
rules.
In your case, WRTC has overruled WPX, even though WRTC has no authority over
WPX. Sure, WRTC can maintain their current position on many valid concerns-
"Our way or the highway"- but is indeed unfair.
I have no horse in this game. As an observer, I have the feeling WRTC forgets
that the event is all about the competitors, not the organizers. There have
been quite a few thoughtful comments from well respected competitors whose
feedback has been met with "These are our rules, they are set in stone, and too
bad if you don't like them".
