It's covered by Rule H as well:

H. All requests for contacts, responses to calls, and copying of call
signs and contest exchanges must be accomplished during the contest
period using the mode and frequencies of the contest.

A telephone or email is not the "mode and frequencies of the contest."

I certainly don't think the intent was to say that you could confirm
QSOs via e-mail during the contest period but afterwards it is not
allowed.
