Sure Ham Radio deluxe (HRD) is free CAT control software for many rigs.
Works fb on Orion. All it takes is a serial cable. I got an
inexpensive laptop and connected to Orion via the serial port using the
cable which came with the rig. I've also tried the N4PY control
program which has much greater capability but works best if you control
your rig thru the software rather than from the rig itself. I use HRD
to complement the rig. For example, I adjust the Threshold, RF, power
output etc, It also has integrated DX spotting so you can click on a
spot and the rig tunes there automatically.

You can download HRD here: http://hrd.ham-radio.ch/
You can download N4PY software here: http://www.ralabs.com/n4py/
