I also have been with the understanding that equipment in the shack should be
star grounded. Each piece of equipment grounded to a single point.

So we should now bond each box to each other using a wide flat strap or copper
mesh (shield copper) from RG8 or equivalent, then take that total bonding to a
station ground such as a ground stake outside using large solid copper wire or
to copper water piping inside the house with the braid or strapping and
bypassing around the water meter, for lightning protection?

I have mine connected to both the copper water pipe (to street side of the
meter) and solid copper to a multiple ground rod system around my tower and
another connected ground rod outside the shack window, all are connected
together.
