Folks:
The review process at eham.net exhibits some flaws.
It provides a terrific forum for axegrinders to bash Ten-Tec, or any other
manufacturer or entity that they see fit.
You can see that there are two recent negative reviews of the Jupiter there
that were posted by people who never owned the transceiver.
There is one individual who has posted a total of 11 negative reviews about
the Jupiter to eham.net at present. Only three of them (from the same
person) appear there presently.
I know who has an agenda and who doesn't - writing a negative review
is fine; if you didn't like the radio, or it didn't work properly, so be it.
There are reviews that appear there that reflect that. It's entirely a
different issue when you have 11 reviews of 1 radio posted by 1 person,
or have reviews that slam our equipment that are posted by employees
of dealers that don't sell Ten-Tec.
There's no way for the reader to know any of this - and the end result
are unjustified negative reviews. That's a shame because ultimately it's
going to lead to lost sales for Ten-Tec, and loss of revenue means less
products we're going to come up with in the future, less interest in the
amateur radio market by our company, etc. Don't think it doesn't have
an impact - it most certainly does.
