Having just purchased a new (?) Orion about a month ago, I initially felt
extremely let down and that I perhaps wasted $4,000 (mine has autotuner and all
filters).

I did a serious comparison between the Icom 756 Pro III and Orion. It was a
close call, but the deciding factor was that I would never have to purchase
another Orion, whereas the next upgrade for the Pro III would be the Pro IV or
whatever. Also, the reputation of how Ten-Tec looks after their customers was
a huge factor.

On the other hand, my Orion is a fine rig, and I guess I?m fortunate not to
have had all the problems that others have experienced. If version 2.0 of the
firmware truly fixes all the reported problems, then what the heck. I?m ok
with it. I am willing to wait and see.
