My experience with Scouts is that they are a reliable, fun rig to
operate. They are NOT battery friendly, in my experience, starting to
"complain" when the supply voltage drops much below 12VDC, and are a
bit current hungry. If you start with a 12 cell battery (Nominal
14.4V), you might have great luck. Just a side-note.... you can kill
the digital display, and save some current by QUICKLY turning the rig
off, and back on. All seems to operate fine except display. Turn off,
then on (slowly) to restore display. Modules are available, if you
hunt for a while. Not a REAL small rig physically. Especially when
you add modules. Best of luck in your decision. My suggestion is, if
you can buy it for a decent price, buy it, and make up your own mind
if it fits your style.... you can always pass it along later.
