They charge labor and shipping for this, so it is not an option for me.

It seems to me that a trip/shipment to Ten Tec for them to do the upgrade may be the wiser path.
Just an observation.....

I am puzzled by what I am reading......both here and in the
instructions/manual updates. I have an early Jupiter with the then
standard memory chip. I see no advantage currently to firmware release
1.30 without adding either the larger memory chip and/or the new blue
screen, and cw. I don't plan to install either right now.

Does it make sense, and is it possible to do the PLD fix for when I
decide to upgrade (maybe with the PSK personality) and I need a
keyboard. Can I do the PLD upgrade now and go to either 1.30 or back
to 1.29 just so it's done? Do I have to go to Rel. 1.30 after the PLD
update. Curious minds want to know
