Ditto here Toby. I have a 509, 540 and 544 at weekend place, surely hesitate to compare with my Omni VII at the home QTH, but the old rigs get the job done as well as this op is capable of. Yesterday, made CT7/DL2MEK from Texas with 2W from the 509 into a wire antenna. Usually use the 544 for 40M SSB nets here and the Omni VII for same at the home QTH.
