Stuart,

The kit in question is the 1254 Digital Readout Superhet Receiver Kit. My 
manual (RX purchased used but I think it's the original manual) is not bound 
and looks like it was copied, or scanned and then printed - in either case, 
on a copier or printer that was in need of a service call. I've also seen 
(negative) comments about the manual quality in eHam reviews.

it's unfortunate, because the 1254 is a pretty decent small radio, especially 
with the addition of the Cholakian processor upgrade.
