Have you been to the Ten Tec website ? There are FAQ's about the Omni VI you
might want to read. I would give their service dept a call. They will be glad
to talk to you and might save you some time trouble shooting.

Thanks for the replies!
First of all, a big confession.... After getting up this morning, I looked at
he rig, turned it on, and in my half-awake state I just played around with it,
s if some easy fix would jump out at me. I'm glad and sorry to say that one
id. Glad because all bands receive now... and sorry because it shows how dumb
 can be!
I have another Omni VI which I was going to sell, until this one quit. When I
witched back to using that one, I moved all the filters over!! Yup... my
eceive problem was that filters were selected that aren't installed in the rig!

ot much gets through that way! How dumb can I be?!... receive problem solved.
So I'm back to my original problem with no power out... not so easy. I'll
eport back after some more snooping around.
By the way, I had forgotten that they don't work on Omni VIs anymore... Thanks
or the reminder and motivation to keep looking...

The revised edition of my original post:
> Enter into this at your own risk ;-)

I have an Omni VI opt 3 with no power out. I've taken it apart, poked around
ith my limited skills and VTVM. Resistance checks on the power transistors
eemed ok. R5 on the DC Input board (.015 ohms) checks ok and the voltage is
k. I've exercised the connectors and put Deoxit on them... But the problem
ersists but my abilities to fix are limited.

 Here's the problem...

I was on the air sending cw when all of a sudden my power dropped to 0.
On all bands I get no power out.
The ALC light is on at Minimum Pwr setting (in Tune)
The ALC light goes out as the Pwr control is increased past the 9:00
osition
     Still no power.

I can hear the driver in another receiver; there is a signal going to the
A
When the ALC light goes out, as above,
I hear a second higher tone in the other receiver in addition to the
ain carrier freq
like something is going into oscillation...
The signal from the driver is keyed properly on CW.

On receive, the power supply shows about 1.5 amps being drawn
On "Tune" it goes up to about 2.5 amps...
with no change as I increase the power control

I also tried using a microphone; no power, no response...

Any tips, advice, before I call Ten Tec? I have very limited test equipment!

 Tnx & 73
 Jim, AF3Z
