You should consider a **good** used FT-1000d:

For low-band dx-ing I have owned:

FT-1000d (three of them)
IC-746
IC-756proII
IC-7800

What remains on the desk is the FT-1000d, and the IC-7800.
The FT-1000d has the roofing filter mod, all filters and the reverse APF
mod.

For 160m CW my rig of choice is still the FT-1000d.
I like the ICOM, have had it for almost two years, but for very
weak-signal CW (160m dx !!), the Yaesu APF proves more effective in
bringing those signals out of the noise than the 7800.
