Sorry to eb a bit off topic but I do mdntion a HAN Radio Tower used to work
contests in teh following diatribe....

This sounds too good to be true..

So is State Farm just screwing me all the time and keeping the profit for
the CEOs or losing all the profit
investing in derivitives in the real estate market as they always seems to
fight me on every substantiated and honest claim ( and VERY FEW !) ?
( Wasn't like that when I signed on with them over 25 to 30 years ago...the
last 5 years have been the pits )

You would think anyone that pays claims at the drop of a hat would have HIGH
premiums
especially with, what seems like frivolous claims of a ham doing something
stupid like letting their cables on their tower rust and
then calling his insurance company to cover the damage when it falls...

I happen to be a Vietnam Vet.... but let me see if I understand this
correctly,
To qualify as a Vet or relative of a Vet, if my wife's father's uncle has a
son who was caretaker for a chimpanzee who was trained to work with Navy
Seals EOD Tema
and that chimp was issued a military service number ( kinda like the
dolphins or porpoises the Navy Seals seals use in military Ops)
the monkey would actually be a Vet), and YOU could qualify as a NON Vet for
USAA insurance.
you can qualify...hmmmmmmm

Something smells here.....

Anyone know if the Geico lizard is a Vet ?

;-)

Sorry for this being a bit off topic, but read to the end. In any case it
is a good deal for those who have served our country... and this is veterans
day weekend after all.

USAA is a coop US Military and their families that provide Insurance,
Banking, Investment Services, etc. Until now you had to join while you were
on active or reserve duty, but now they have opened up membership to all who
have honorably served in the US Military also. So if you missed the chance
while you were in the military you can now join and take advantage of the
great service and discounted prices they offer. I have been a member for 30
some years now and my only problem has been convincing claims adjusters why
I won't let a satellite dish installer work at 180' on a broke 40m beam...
understandable I guess, and once they understood payment was quick and
satisfactory... and yes, their home owners does cover towers and antennas
against wind/ice damage, and radios/appliances against lightning. So there
is some radio applicability after all.

Dave-

Thanks for the post. I have USAA for all my insurance coverage and it's nice
to know they cover the tower stuff. I called them about it a few years back
and got a confirmation, but the real test is when a claim is made. So far,
they've been great on all my claims, which has only been auto, not
homeowners.

No, I was never military, but got the insurance through my XYL whose dad is
ex-Coast Guard...

Both my father (WC7N) and I have USAA. Several years ago, the cable on his
55 foot crank-up broke and the towerr came done. When the dust settled, dad
took photos and got price quotes and USAA covered everything without
question. USAA told dad that they covered anything attached to the house
without having to add a rider and attached by a cable was good enough.

David,

I have been a member for 30 plus years myself and I too have have antennas,
towers and rotators replaced with my home owners AND renters insurance from
USAA.
Unlike a lot of insurance companies they will listen to you.
Sorry if this sounds like a commercial, but they can be a ham's friend.
Thanks to all the vets out there.
