Well if that is the case why were signals so poor from some of the last 
DXpeditions?
Yes the location more rarer the better the signal report.

I think you'll find that ANY antenna works better in Botswana than in the
US, qso-wise...

I would vote for the Tennadyne T6 also. The SWR on the last T6 I used in
Botswana was 1.3:1 across all bands. One coax for 20 through 10 meters. It
will also work on 6 meters.
No ATU required. The boom is 12 feet and the longest element is 38 feet.
