What I can say for my area, where the shade can reach easy 110 F  
I remember ON4UN's tower was filled with petroleum jelly is that right?

With a melting point close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit Vaseline would not be
a good choice for those of us in the southern states.

If you want to try an experiment sometime, cover your connections with
Vasoline.

I have used that on connections and they stay shiny for a long time.  When
making changes, jus wipe it off.

Learned this trick from a telephone repairman.  73
