Paul, My HyGain 5-el 10m (LJ-105BA or similar) yagi has what looks like black polypropolene inside the elements. It's pretty small..1/4" maybe? It's held "in" by the end caps on the elements, which of course, crack and fall off. I think I eventually lost 1 of the ropes. I'd probably do a "gob of silicone" or something if I was to ever redo it.
