Thanks for the comments. They have been helpful.
I've managed to get the IC-9700 to stay connected by hooking it direct to
the computer and not through my USB Hub. Odd that the IC-9700 works well
with all other programs through the hub, but not with Wrtielog.
Also, I have been able to get DigiRite to work . . . . . I think. I'm
still trying to work out some issues but it is a lot closer that it was
earlier today. I can't seem to get the waterfall to show anything, but
signals are decoding OK. The waterfall is just a black square.
I also have a different Writelog issue that I'll address in a new thread.

The later versions of Writelog do not have/use an INI file.
This is disappointing for me. I've used Writelog since back pre-version 8.
I love how it handles multiple rig inputs for VHF contests. There is so
much FT8 activity on VHF now, to contest and not be able to work/log FT8
contacts is nearly as bad as not operating at all. I may have to consider
other contest logging options.

When you first go into Writelog on the right hand side you can EXPORT the
INI file.
Two things.
1. The USB Cable must be very short -- this is an Icom problem.
2. In the [RIGS] section
Com3:=19200,n,8,2 Com port that you are using BUT 2 Stop
bits.
