Comments:
Internet via cell tower has been flakey all week. No internet tonight on radio
computer, but laptop connects and is very slow. 40 is noisy, -110dB, but some
nice loud East Coast so started there. At 0315 had 50 QSOS. Hmmm maybe good,
but need repeats due to QRN. This is equivalent to lost contacts. At 0330Z had
97 QSOs, so a little off the mark. At 0345Z had 133, so not going to make it.
Started having to CQ a lot, and rarely didi multiple people call at once. A
good selection of Europeans called in and some were very loud. Considered going
to 80 to increase rate, but score would suffer, so stuck it out until the end.
The inverted vee is working well, but never the SteppIR. Perhaps a rotary dipole
at 84 feet would do the trick. I am considering going to 2 el on 10-20 (plus
WARC). Bidirectional is super for CWT conditions, but I hate to loose out no
DXing.
Grandkids baseball season has started. We saw two games tonight and my son was
the pitcher. (At this young age, coaches pitch to their team.) He has to be
tired with perhaps 500 pitches for the evening! We sat by the far outfield
fence in Hopedale, IL. Can't take any chances. We know we are gone if either
of us get it!
