Jon, I hope that you read my complete message...I 100% agree here. My
TS-940 absolutely requires the internal tuner when I use my 160M
verticals on 30 and 17M for instance.

That is another myth. The common tuner designs can only predict harmonic
attenuation into a pure 50 Ohm load. Then why would you use a tuner?
When unknown reactances are thrown into the equation it is anyones guess
what is the result. It can be zero, it can be superior...what I
understand is that it is minimal at best.
Of course, antenna tuner manufacturers may now take the stand and
reply.....BUT did you ever wonder why true engineer driven amp companies
do not offer a tuner?
Let me know...I will then buy an Alpha, Command, Henry or QRO tuner. Yes,
Ten-Tec offers a tuner but it is a poor seller.
