I guess what I was reacting against what RIch was saying that you don't
need a long ground rod. For HF grounding, he's correct. I didn't
dissect his post carefully enough.
For ELECTRICAL (DC) and lightning protection, you do need a long ground
rod. For RF grounding, no you don't.
The original question though was about grounding in general, not about HF
grounding techniques.
