When I spoke with them today, I got a price of $714 for the 500pF/10KV
unit when I buy 100pc ... Expensive toy ...

Generally speaking, if you look on the internal copper cylinder abot 180
degrees from where you see the 8-61-170 (probably the date of manufacture -
8-1961), you will see engraved the capacitor type and capacity. It might
read something like UCS-350.
