Three years ago I received an old immersed RF deck from
an Xray unit... had two 3-500z's on board. The individual
filament transformers where also in the oil.

Nothing I try completely removes the oil stink... even
long runs in bake out ovens and various combinations
of solvents.

It's like having a skunk at the amplifiers controls during
"net operation".
