Just catching up... Very *bad* idea to use a neon sign transformer for the bias on an electrostatic air cleaner filter element. WAY too much CURRENT!! DANGER WILL ROBINSON!! Deadly dangerous. Far better idea is a modest number of voltage multiplier sections fed from a *low current* medium voltage transformer... like a 110 or 220v secondary.
