That's certainly more believable. However, I've seen an amp for the UK 
70MHz band using one that would produce 450watts 'single tone' - i.e, a 
whistle into the microphone! The linearity was not investigated...........


I seem to remember the RCA rating was about 290 watts PEP out, and thatw 
as with -25dBIMD. Whether that was relative to the  PEP or relative to 1 
tone of 2 tone signal, I cannot remember.
