"4CX1500B works great in a 30S1 which I think is the same configuration gfz" No, not same configuration. The 30S1 used conventional cathode drive, with control grid and screen grid operating on correct voltages. The only thing changed in the 30S1 is that the screen is grounded and the cathode is operated at an offset voltage equal to the screen voltage.
