I would find a 1980's vintage copy of the Radio Handbook. They are always
on eB...
I also agree with trying out a proven design first and then playing with it
to see what changes do to the results. Pick one with cheep forgiving tubes
like 4-1000 pulls, 8877 medical pulls, etc.
