Ken, You are fine with the 12/2. It is rated at 20 Amps. IS it better to
use 10 Gauge for an amplifier?

Most electricians when wiring their own houses upgrade the wiring a size to
eliminate voltage drop.

Why have the wire to your lights heating and dropping voltage instead of
powering the device. Also many cities are upping the National Electric Code
stating a minimum of 12 gauge wiring in houses. It's already the minimum
for commercial applications.

If you decide to upgrade to 10 gauge, remember while it is good for 30 Amps,
whatever the lightest rated device on the circuit is the same ampacity the
breaker needs to be rated at.

If you for instance installed a 15 amp 220 outlet the breaker needs to be 15
amps, ETC.

The TL-922 is not a monster amp and will not over load the 12 gauge...

However for instance 5 of my 220 lines to my shack (and I have 6) are in 10
gauge and run all the way across my house. They are protected and socketed
at 20 amps.

Subject: [Amps] 230v wiring question

I am running a new 230v line from my breaker box to the ham shack. I have a
20 amp breaker and 35 feet of 12/2 romex going to a new 20a single outlet.

Question: I'm worried that the 12/2 romex might not be enough for my amp
(Kenwood TL-922A). Is 12/2 enough or will I see voltage drops
on
the line? Am I worried about nothing? How much current can
12/2
              Romex deliver?
