Brings to mind a young (then) guy I knew in Beverly Hills CA back in the 1970s
who built custom 4-1000A amplifiers for a few of the big-gun California DXers
and contesters. They were absolute works of art, immaculate and professional
fit
and finish inside and out, together with GOLD-PLATED tank coils, anode caps,
and
other visible RF parts. The interlock-equipped top panel was made of
high-impact
glass in at least one unit I saw. Can't remember the guy's name or call,
unfortunately, but those amps he built were something to behold.
