I don't know that *.jpg are executable but since jpg are a compressed
format they may well be used for "mischief."

In any case, MailMan is a platform agnostic (multi-platform) text based
e-mail forwarding platform designed to work with plain-text messages.
While some recent versions will support html e-mail with inline images
most systems that host Mailman software prefer to support only text
based messages do to the bandwidth demands of html with in-line images.

In most cases users can find alternative "group" facilities (even an
alternative "amplifiers" group) at Yahoo, Google, or other providers if
they object to the text only limitation. The amateur lists on QTH.net
and Contesting.com have worked very well for 15+ years as text only
services there is no need to change them.

I find it interesting that the censor of the RTTY list would be the
one to cause problems here. He should know well the capabilities of
Mailman and understand that allowing inline images would "break" many
of Mailman's administrative tools.
