I would not use a dab of silicon grease. Those connectors are well designed. I 
think if the manufacturer felt they needed grease, they would supply it, just 
like they do with some other connectors - some of the bigger RF ones from Huber 
and Suhner have grease with them.

Personally I would just cut the coax as per the instructions, and assemble them 
like that.
