It makes for an interesting story. Stolen? Leverage?
They are up front about the history. If they took it to court it's
questionable whether it'd be called stolen or not as the new owners were
not up front about paying.

It would not bother my conscience (which is probably why they told the
story, but It's a situation I'd want no part of.
