Subject: Re: [Amps] plate voltage meter shunt
** Understood but I dont expect someone to be running a 5KV meter at 5KV, in
that case Id configure for 10KV and not have to worry about a new scale (-;

## For a 5 kv meter, I usually use a 0-500 micro-amp ammeter. ( half a
ma)..
+ a 10 meg ohm resistor. ( like 5 x 2 megohm resistors in series etc) .
Then the 0-500ua scale reads 0-5000 volts.
## The 0-10 kv meter's of course use a 0-1 ma meter...and the same 10
megohms
worth of resistance. The 0-1ma meter now read 0-10 kv.
## The above two configs will then work on any amp..from 0-10 kv, with
the
dividing point being 5 kv.
## I need simple, and you are correct, why use a 0-1ma meter to read 0-5 kv.
A lot of these meter's are not easy to take apart, and swap scales etc.
