I have not fired mine up yet but on my mate's 156, we have 6kV on the
anode and at 1kW out, there is little or no discernible movement of the
grid current meter. The meter is scaled for 500mA FSD as the rf deck
previously had a 4-1000A in GG config.
Anyway, for what its worth, for the 1kW power that my mate runs, the
grid current meter that he has in his deck is of no value whatsoever. A
25mA or so FSD meter might be more appropriate in his case.
Perhaps when you up the anode volts on your mate's amp, the grid current
readings will drop.
Sorry that I can't help more than that. All the literature that I have
seen gives no real clue either.
K7RDX might be the man. He has built a number of YC156 amps.

### yes, and it for pulse operation. It appears it might be 100ma,
non pulsed.
But under typ operation it shows 30-40 ma.. and this is pulsed, and
average during the
pulse. Max grid current is listed as +/- 100 ma.
## I also looked at the 3CX-5000A7... and it has a 50 watt grid
rating.... but no max grid current.
The yc-156 is listed as 25 watt max grid diss. So I don't know
what to believe.

Isn't there a data sheet for that tube?
