Right. More important, use of ALC between amp and exciter to control power is a recipe for clicks and splatter.

OTOH, that ALC is a good thing IF power is controlled by drive level from the exciter, to protect the output stage from a failure in the antenna system, including antenna switching. Like transmitting into the wrong antenna. :)
