HI Guys,

With no aim to hurt and maximum respect about all the opinions:

to all those ones supporting the limited time in a 48h contest, to all
those with small energy, to those in the third age, and to the ones
supporting short periods using wrtc as an example.

1) Earth its a planet and turns around its axis, earts has an orbit
   around the sun.
2) Solar particles then may hit or not a part of the earth ionosphere
(disturbances included) depending from its relative position to the
sun. This affects propagation of the HF radio waves too.
3) Season, unless in the equinoxes, bring locations northern or southern
the equator, to have different nighttime and daytime, as well as
different band noise. This expecially affects low bands, but also
gives hi bands full-time opening to the higher latitudes of the
boreal emisphere in June-July with Eu, Na, and Ja. (reversal true,
December-January, in the Austral emisphere......with much less
   amateur populated areas.)
4) Under this aspect, 48, and much more 36 or 30 hours may be a very
different situation in a place than in another, even if time is
   shared at the best possible.

If all we were in the same geographical point (area) and everyone start
and finishes in the same moment it is possible to disreguard all the
above making shorter periods as in a Sprint Contest or WRTC.

A limited period its then always making more pronounced the geographical
advantages of someone or the disadvantages of someone else.

Since we are spread around and in all the latitudes, the only balanced way
to set people in the position to get a maximum in result, read also as
"equal opportunities to everyone limiting geographical favours or
handycaps", is to operate a full time of 48 hours.

Who is NOT able to withstand 2 full days awake at 100% of its energy,
I'm one of those goin' to sleep time to time, can easily press the
ON/OFF button as long as they want but they shouldn't pretend to press
the same button to others who feel and think different, or they are
somehow handicapped and "pressed" by season or latitude to "suffer" more.

The Age it is NOT a realistic excuse for time limitation.
First because a younger has yes more energy but often a small ability to
share his effort, meanwhile he has little or no experience.
Second because the life-rule says to give space to new generations, all
we were or will be young or old.
May be put on another contest list, the "over 75", where the number it
is not a power level...in KW.

See You all in contest.

73, Mauri I4JMY (one of IR4T).
