If you are going to wrap your expensive electronic goods in bubble wrap
ensure you don't use the clear plastic versions. There is no static /
esd safety with this stuff. It may generate many 1000's of Volts as you
unwrap it from the radio. It would be very sad to discover the gear to
be blown up after you have ensured it survived the luggage handlers.
The safe stuff to use is either the 'pink' or black stuff. The pink
stuff is treated so that it does not create voltages as it is separated
and the black stuff actually conducts. It's all to do with being called
static disipative and conductive and - well it doesn't really matter
here! The clear stuff is fine when packing china and the like for
shipping (and I am sure the cheapest) but why take extra risks and use
it on electronic goods.
Just find the pink stuff - it is commonly available.
