It's always hard for me to imagine that we are really breaking new ground with
some of these decisions. So, I like to do a little research before coming to my
own conclusion. A quick Google search on "contest results" turned up the
following interesting links:
Soaring Society of America. Check out some of the general links in the left
sidebar:

There you have it. Contest results on the web. They have a magazine called
"Soaring". I don't know if they publish results there. This is an organization
of about 15,000 members who pay $55 per year in dues. Contesting is only a part
of what they do. It looks like they have plenty of novice and non-competitor
members.
