The "2" in SO2R says it all! There is a quantitative bolt on (e.g. SO2R
MASTER ) advantage in SO2R. Granted it takes a skill to learn how to
operate this mode. Just as it takes skill to sort the good packet spots from
the bad spots quickly and it takes skill to quickly locate the wanted
station whose frequency is frequently inaccurately posted.

Splitting hairs does not remove the fact that while skill is involved - as
it is in most aspects of contesting including the preparation of the station
before the contest - SO2R provides a quantitative advantage just like an
amplifier gives a quantitative.

Summary - most contest categories are based on quantitative factors - number
of operators, power, etc. SO2R is just another one of the quantitative
factors that places it in a category of its own.
